DHS Buying 1.6 Billion Rounds Finally Makes It To The Mainstream Media

DHS buys ammoMost people who keep an eye on the alternative media will probably already be aware that the Department of Homeland Security, in an effort to keep all Americans safe and secure, have been buying up ammunition rounds at at an alarming rate. (3)

The story has now started to appear in “normal” news outlets. One point made by Forbes is:

At the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America. (1)

One thing you can certainly say about the US government is that they certainly have experience at planning and preparing for war.

Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. That’s when conservative radio host Alex Jones spoke of an “arms race against the American people” and said the government was “gearing up for total collapse, they’re gearing up for huge wars.”

The government’s explanation is less sinister. Federal solicitations to buy the ammo are known as “strategic sourcing contracts,” which help the government get a low price for a big purchase, says Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga. The training center and others like it run by the Homeland Security Department use as many as 15 million rounds every year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises. (2)

Just to make you sleep more comfortably in bed, the DHS is also buying hollow point bullets.

Some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. (1)

When you put massive arms purchases, deployment of military vehicles and the already constructed FEMA “camps” the real reason for the governments enthusiastic preparations becomes more worrying.
